The Great North Woods, a rustic cabin, Moosehead Lake = the perfect recipe for making men

About Us

The Storey family cabin was originally known as "Camp Brokentoe" and was built on the shores of northern Moosehead Lake in the early 1970's before a road was even cut to reach the lot. The group of four founding men: Elliot's father and uncle, a fellow firefighter, and the outdoor supervisor for the local paper mill; plus Elliot's grandfather who designed and supervised the build, had to first clear the lot, then float in materials from about a mile away. The result is an off-grid rustic cabin, 42 miles away from the nearest paved road, that is very slowly becoming a lake house, but even if and when it gets fully finished, will still be ideal for a men's retreat.
Elliot Storey
The Man
Elliot grew up in Maine and started going to the family cabin on Moosehead Lake in the 80s Working in the family landscaping business from a young age taught him the reward of hard work, along with skills that bypass today's youth such as yard maintenance, light construction, small engine operation, and how to grow everything from flowers and vegetables to trees and shrubs to cannabis (legal in Maine). Starting a family and taking over the family business upon graduating college accelerated all facets of manhood: fathering four successful children, maintaining a healthy marriage, becoming a Project Management Professional, getting elected to and serving on city council, winning national and world-level championships in two sports, traveling the world, building businesses, and more - few are more well-rounded and qualified to lead.
